Paprika
After months of looking for someone to get it for me (thanks, DJ!), days setting up my portable HDD, since my lappy can't PLAY HIGH HIGH QUALITY BluRay Movied and weeks of slacking... I finally found time to watch PAPRIKA.

First, a brief introduction:

The DC Mini is a breakthrough in pstchology, allowing the therapist to enter their patient's dream and find out more about their illnesses and of course, find ways to treat them.

Paprika is a dream world entity and the alter ego of
Atsuko Chiba which is known for her involvement in the DC Mini Project. Atsuko consults her patients as Paprika and as a rouge therapist.

But, what if DC Mini fell to the wrong hands and used for conquering the dream world? (similar with the xxxHolic explanations where all of our dreams are intertwined ) It's up to Paprika to stop their evil plan.

My Notes:

Story-wise, I may say it's filled with common elements. An Ebul Plan, and a hero(ine) to stop it. But, Art-wise and how the story is served in the big screen made go ooooh while watching it. Made me think if Satoshi Kon was creative or just plain nuts, but hell after watching this and his other works, Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers, I therefore conclude that he got a seat along with the gods of anime.

My inner self is battling whether to be or not to be like this guy..

2 of the main characters, a big tub of lard and Paprika's RL self
Pros
  • A Genius
  • Girls dig fat guys
Cons
  • He's a huge tub of lard
  • I don't wanna have a neck like that lol

Paprika, in a fanservice moment

Professor Big Eyes, watch the movie and you'll find his hilarity

Decide: Creativity or just plain Insanity?

Note: oh, BTW... that guy in a suit, smiling retardedly is a a main character... and has a major influence in the story.

First Impressions: Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi

All I can say is... SAME OL' SAME OL'
JC STAFF's way better in Fanservice anime than those SHOUJO animu thingies which teh Avalon love.

Considering this is a "Media Factory" anime. Major players in the fansubbing world didn't bother doing this one, so they won't get slapped by C&D's. Look at what happened to WF, they vanished after massive pinging from someone. (prolly MF lol)

Impressions for Episode 1:
A nice starter, really... and OH I LOVE this BOOBILICIOUS episode.

Teh MEIDO..

Some random big breasted academy student

And of Course, Her Majesty is no Exception...

LUCKY SAITO! The Dream of ALL MEN!

Air TV Licensing Woes

Remember the anime that has midschoolers with developed bodies and adults the looks like mid-schoolers? It was LICENSED, by ADV

Looking at this banner, made me (a Key/Visual Arts) fan pissed..

and yes, it is "a true work of art".. say w00t! for Newtype USA
AirTV

<Clickie for a biggie>

Why? Sure it was produced by Kyoto Animation.. yet any Key Series doesn't need a Suzumiya Haruhi in its publicity. Somehow this made Air's publicity a desperation move.. AIR TV can stand by itself! dammit!

No doubts, SHnY itself was a success, but without AIR TV, Haruhi won't have a pillar for its supports.. the director and the studio became know for AIR's Quality.. even 5 years before a lot of fans are anticipating/begging for a US release

BTW, Noizi Ito and Nagaru Tanigawa isn't with Key.. so it should be "from the studio who brought The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi"

Meh, I wish they wouldn't do this to future CLANNAD and Kanon releases.
PS: Meh, Kanna is still hot..

Me, Animation Studios and Producers.. lol
I was watching the Kanon remake when this topic popped out of my mind.Instead of talking about and comparing different shows, how about do it generally... by studios.

These are the most commons ones, or at least the ones I remember, and watched

Kyoto Animation - most of their shows left a huge impact on me, like "I want more!" and "Oh my, this is full of win and awesome". KyoAni specializes on animating to the fullest detail, great cameraworks, great art.. and they're good at compressing long stories into 12 -13 episodes without missing the highlights. Comparing GONZO's version of Full Metal Panic! and the KyoAni version, KyoAni's version animated the novel artistically, without the action overlapping the main story.

GONZO - known for rewriting the original story of their source, even GONZO originals! And most of their shows tells us that... IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CG! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ACTION. It's Fanservice lol.

PIERROT - this studio got most of their projects from JUMP, and most of their shows lasts for more than 3 seasons or has 40+ episodes. (HikaGO, YuYuHakusho, BLEACH, Naruto, DSQ). Yes, they love making little boys happy.

J.C. Staff - as far as I remember, most of the JC Staff shows that I've watched has at least ECCHI content in it. Tori said, most of their shows are drama, romance blah blah.. Yeah, drama with a little dose of Ecchiness in it.. (Ai Yori Aoshi). But, most of their shows.. made FANBOYS happy.

Production I.G/Xebec/Bee Train - yep, different names.. yet, one group

Most of production I.G's anime I've seen has serious themes...yep verrrrrryyyyy serious. (Evangelion, Blood+ Ghost in the Shell)

XEBEC, these guys are the ones behind anime with toys (Bakusou Kyoudai Let's and Go, Rockman) yes, they make kids happy.. veeerrry happy.

Bee Train, I only remember .hack and Honey and Clover... oh well, I like both.

Sunrise - they produce, except for the movie versions of the anime wherein they are involved in the animation.. most of their anime I love are classics, MECHA ANIME!! they have Gundams, Tadao Nagahama's Romance Super Robot Trilogy, and lotsa Super Robots anime.

MadHouse - most of the madhouse anime I've watched have uber Opening and Ending animations backed up with an uber soundtrack. (for instance Death Note, and Paradise Kiss.. I love their OP lol ) AND UBER GREAT INTRODUCTION EPISODE or Episode 1 to make it short. But as you continue with the series, the animation degrades, from medium to poor.. you'll see unproportioned bodies, characters that are crossed eyed or eyes way off on the other side, the left cheek bigger that the right.. and stuff.. oh well... Previous comment only applies to Ichigo 100%. Taking back my words, lol.. I realized that most of the anime that I saw in AXN are Madhouse Productions lol.. and teh art is great (GALAXY ANGELS!!) I remembered DNA2 is also from madhouse.. hehe those are some of my favorites hehe..

Super Robot Wars Original Generation TV
Super Robot Wars Original Generation
~Divine Wars~

Story Synopsis:
You don't need to know the synopsis.. play the game dammit! lol
So far for episode 1, I guess the anime will show the first game's main story, their Battle with the DC and the Aerogaters.

My Notes:
For the animation, I say that I like the OVA's better. But,the robots in this one are CG unlike the OVA's robots (I prefer that one, like the old mech animes XD). For the first parts of the game the anime, in my opinion, portrays it well. Also there are some modifications in the story like Tenzan being introduced early..

So, I'll be adding this to my D/L Watchlist.

And CAPS!

Tona-Gura! Girls Next Door Harem Anime
I can't think of a better subheading.. (jeez.. I suck)
So.. off with my usual anime rantings..

Tona-Gura!
(means.. neighbors.. daw XD)

MJ's Notes:

Yes, I didn't do any copypasta this time.. this one is aboutKazuki.. yes, she lives next door.. and Yuuji, the boywho lives next door to Kazuki, who lives next door (eh?) but he isn't currently next door.. (laughs at myself..)
Kazuki was waiting for about 10 years for Yuuji, because apparently, he's not currently next door.. and she had a crush on him when they were still kids, and because she didn't saw Yuuji for a long time, he depicts him as an ideal prince on a horse.. so, when Yuuji came back.. all of Kazuki's hopes are shattered because of Yuuji acting all ecchi during their reunion (yeah, he's a serial groper wannabe). And the story goes on.. adding more girls on the mix

No ratings yet, (but since I love harem anime...) nah... Tona-Gura got negative comments.. and its here on this post

I'm looking for the manga since ecchi scenes are limited for anime versions... (I'm ebul >:3)

Tonagura! Rip-off?
This one ish another Harem type anime (my favorite genre).. the internet got complaints about this one.. so.. i picked up some of their points...

First... SHnY

Hmm.. a Haruhi and a Kyon wannabe?

then.. the Bouken Desho Desho part... look at the BG
it moves in a warphole like fashion and the chars also fly along the way..

next, WELCOME TO FUUKA GAKUEN!

uhh... a Midori wannabe?

Lastly... Some Love Hina references...

Yes, the main guy's a SERIAL GROPER (a Keitaro-tard)

Then.. NARU PUNCH!! minus its destructive attributes..

then, there's a mutsumi + mitsune character... and a kanako + motoko little sister type of character... there's also another one in the harem.. a blond girl that is supposed to inherit kaolla's traits

It's a Conspiracy : NHK ni Youkoso!
Oh yes.. after a flood of rants, raves and and a truckload of Haruhi posts... here's a review!!

(not teh real logo.. my BSPlayer fucked up again... but at least.. there's the title there XD)

N.H.K. ni Youkoso!
(Welcome to the N.H.K.!)

Plot Summary:Tatsuhiro Satou, 21 years old, thinks that everything that happen around him is a conspiracy. He figure out who is behind it all: The NHK, an evil secret company. “When you think anime, you think otaku. When you think otaku, you think people that dislike other people. Those people become hikikomori (people who shut themselves in)”. So Satou manage to uncover the plot of The NHK (stands for Nihon Hikikomori Kyōkai), after three years of shutting himself in (and rapidly approaching the fourth). In reality, he is nothing more then a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), desperately in need of a cure from that ‘disease’. He want to break out from the curse, but going out and getting a job is frightening enough for him. That is until he gets selected for a ‘project’; it is a plan to help hikikomori like him in facing the reality of this world.

MJ's Notes:
After Lolis, killer lolis, train decapitations, aliens, espers and ecchiness.. we now move on to a "slice of life" genre anime... First, the opening is rendered retro-style, and backed up by a nice ROUND TABLE feat. Nino song, "pazuru" or Puzzle... the opening song somewhat gave me a CHOBITS-Y feeling... remember Tanaka Rie (Chii) and Sugita Tomozaku's (Hideki) duet in the last ep? it gave that kind of "feel".
Now moving on with the anime, the animations quite good (done by GONZO DIGIMATION, the leader in anime butchering XD) but expect a lot of modifications in the story, (extra stories, compressed timelines, anime-original characters, worthless action scenes, cheery turned emo characters, and too many to list...). Teh internets say they had a "Melancholic" feel after watching this one.. but I'll stick on insisting on having the CHOBITS feel.. (Ya know, a worthless college dropout guy that became lucky, found a HAWT chick, turned to be somewhat special after exerting or giving a little effort at all?) Also, the main character's fantasies reminded me of Hideki's fantasies.. .
Since, its Gonzo, expect a good animation.. modified story and robot/mecha/war action inserts.. and a lot of slapsticks...

MJ's Rating: 8

Screenies:

She wins 10 internets!

too much fappage?
